Michael D. Kirkwold beat his battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Funeral Services were  Monday, February 19, 2018, at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, 9387 Wyoming Trail, Chisago City.  Visitation was Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Burial at South Green Lake Cemetery, Chisago City.

 Mike was born in Harvey, Illinois on October 22, 1962. He married the love of his life, Laura, on October 20, 1984. They were married 33 years.

 Mike worked for a long time for Diversified Coatings as a cement mason, he loved the work he did and was known by anyone who knew him as an incredibly hard worker. He deeply enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening but above all else he loved his family and the Lord. Mike was very involved in the Chisago Lakes Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. Mike was a man who would strive to reflect the beauty of Christ even in the midst of his long fight with cancer. Mike most certainly did not lose his battle with cancer, but rather came out the victor. He defeated his cancer and is now able to rest easy in the arms of Jesus.

Mike is survived by his wife Laura; his parents David and Sandra Kirkwold; his six children; Shane (Elisa) Kirkwold,  Jake Kirkwold, Andrea (DJ) Peterson, Rachel Kirkwold; Erica Kirkwold and Serenity Kirkwold; his grandchildren Joshua, Lilyanne, Levi, Isaac, and Thea; and his siblings Patrick (Lynette) Kirkwold, Amy (Marty) Sykes, Jeff (Nora) Kirkwold, and Ann (Craig) Simpson.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred to the family at 11875 Oak St., Chisago City, MN 55013.

Mike’s family would like to leave a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the University of Minnesota Fairview Cancer Center for all of their care and support.
