Wyoming, Forest Lake and state patrol, along with area deputies pursued a wanted man Monday this week, who fled Wyoming in a car that was pulled over about 3:30 a.m. for headlights-out.
The suspect was fleeing officers when his car crashed at the round-a-bout in Forest Lake. Wyoming Police Chief Paul Hoppe said the man fled on foot. Shortly after the authorities received a tip he was in Wal-Mart in Forest Lake.
The store was evacuated and searched, but the suspect had exited and was seen about 12:45 by a patrol officer, getting into a second vehcile around Broadway Avenue and 7th. This car was pulled over but as occupants were being removed, the man grabbed the wheel and “jumped into the driver’s seat and led police on a second chase,” said the chief.
The man crashed this car near I-35 and County Road 23 in Anoka County and was apprehended.
Hoppe said the local law enforcement should be thanked for their coordinated efforts and he wanted to thank the community in helping locate this suspect and get him into custody.
The man has multiple felony warrants, Hoppe said and is wanted by U.S. Marshal Service.
He hit a couple squad cars when he fled and made contact with two officers with the car.
February 26 a theft from a truck at Foxhill Avenue, Stacy. A 300 piece Craftsman set and fluke amp clamp are missing, along with a tool bag and miscellaneous items.
Lakes Area Police were notified of a missing trained service dog. Animal was missing from a Chisago City address and is male, about 7 years old, a Bernese Mountain breed and had an orange collar. Contact police 257-0622 to report if you know where animal is.
A deputy with assistance from St. Croix Falls made an arrest at Taylors Falls mainstreet Feb. 26. Persons were in a car parked on Bench Street at 11:44 p.m. Baggies allegedly containing meth were collected and one person was arrested on a Washington County warrant.
February 27 Lakes Area Police made an arrest of a 48-year-old male at a Lindstrom address for allegedly assaulting a 12 year old boy.
March 3 Lakes Area Police and farmer responded to report of cows on the road off Wyoming Trail at 275th. Report came in at 5:15 p.m. Cows were successfully returned where they belong.
