Shirley Marie Anderson, age 81, of Chisago City, died Friday, March 9, 2018, at her residence.

Shirley was born July 29, 1936, in Almelund, MN to Leif and Agnes (Rydeen) Medin.  She was a 1954 graduate of North Branch High School.  Shirley was united in marriage to Robert C. “Bob” Anderson on September 10, 1955, in Almelund, MN.  She assisted Bob with their farm and was also employed with Parmly for 18 years.

Shirley was a longtime member at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City where she taught Sunday School for many years along with being active in Ladies Circle.  She volunteered at Chisago Lakes Lakeside and Primary Schools and was a 4-H Leader.  Shirley enjoyed bird watching and wildlife, traveling with family, visiting with friends, keeping up with local sports teams, showing flowers at the Minnesota State Fair and especially enjoyed time with her family, adoring her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She was a "second mom" to many of our friends and neighbors.  Her incredible quiet and humble strength and loving, positive spirit will be greatly missed.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob in 2011; infant son Carl; great-grandson Leif; two brothers Melvin and Reuben; and three sisters Dorothy, Hazel, and May.  
She is survived by her two sons; Dale (Sharon) Anderson and Kevin Anderson; daughter Susan (Ron) Johnson; five grandchildren: Serena (Craig Berget) Anderson; AnaChristine (Dan) Zack, Bradley (Samantha) Johnson; Kelly (Mitchell) Ross; and Nathan Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers Arnold (Darlyne) Medin and Raymond Medin; and also many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City, with Rev. John Keller officiating.  

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  

Interment will be in South Green Lake Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City or National Kidney Foundation of Minnesota.
