Jon was born on May 16, 1944 in Minneapolis to parents Raymond and Marie (Houston) Erickson. He attended Minneapolis schools and graduated from Centennial High School in 1963. Jon worked as a precision sheet metal worker for 30 years at 3M. He also had a patent while working at 3M.
Jon and Sharon own Sven’s BBQ in North Branch. The success of Sven’s BBQ was due to Jon’s hard work, dedication and spirit.
He married Sharon Simonson on April 10, 1965 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Circle Pines, and God blessed this union with four children.
He was a very hard worker as he built two of his own homes and will be remembered as a lover of music. He was willing to help anyone and will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his sense of humor but most of all for being a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.
Jon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; children, Beth Erickson (significant other Jay Johnson) of Rush City, Jim (Ann) Erickson of Lino Lakes, Anne (Troy) Ellis of North Branch and Dan (Laure) Erickson of Fridley; his brother Gary Erickson of White Bear Lake; his seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica Zachrison, Sam and Alex Ellis, Jack Erickson, Violet and Scarlet Erickson as well as his three great grandchildren, Jayden and Jorden Cortez and Hunter Dybedahl.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the North Branch Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Cando Canines or Feed My Starving Children.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Pastor Dwight Rudquist officiating. Visitation was Friday, April 27 and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment followed the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Harris. A luncheon followed at the family residence immediately after the graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
