Carole was born in Lindstrom, Minnesota, on September 4, 1936, to Russell and Mildred (Swenson) Thoreen. Carole grew up in Almelund on the family farm and graduated from North Branch High School. After graduating, Carole went to work for an insurance company in the Twin Cities. She met and later married her husband, Darrell Anderson on December 14, 1964. Together they had five children, Jenell, Joleen, Donald, Darrell and Melvin. After Darrell’s death in 1969 Carole raised her children on her own and her family was her biggest pride and joy. Carole enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, going out to lunch and road trips, puzzles and scratch offs. Carole was also a member of the North Branch American Legion Auxillary.
Carole is survived by her children, Jenell (Scott) Anderson, Joleen (Kevin) Carlson, Darrell Anderson, and Melvin (Jenny) Anderson; six grandchildren, Derek, Joshua, Matt, Lauren, Nicholas and Travis; and two great-grandchildren, Aylee and Kellen. Also survived by sister, Beverly Adams, brothers Jerry (Helen) Thoreen and Harold Thoreen, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrell and infant son, Donald, and brother, Harvey Thoreen.
A Celebration of Life was held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd at Grandstrand Funeral Home, North Branch. A private family internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
