Honor our Veterans on Monday; grab a paddle - see you on the lake
A Brush with Kindness is in need of some help. ABWK is a non-profit faith based group that is associated with Habitat For Humanity and focusses on assisting residents in need whose homes are in dire need of repair.
The group has been together for over seven years and has changed the lives of many residents in Chisago County. I am proud to say that I am part of this great group. We have had hundreds of volunteers help with projects over the years and they have been spectacular.
We are looking for a retired tradesman who is looking for a way to help the community in the form of a volunteer who would be interested in overseeing a project or two. They would be responsible for overseeing volunteers whether it would be painting, light construction, or general clean up. The job pays nothing. The satisfaction you get by helping a neighbor in need can’t be measured. It is not a full-time job, heck it’s not even a part-time job. It’s just a small job or two and a chance to make a difference in this world. If you are interested or you know someone who is, please call 651-361-0229.
This weekend there is something really neat and catching on with a large group. I am speaking about the third annual Memorial Day Paddle. There is a group of local kayakers who will be touring the local lakes and would love for you to join them.
There are three different paddles offered. The grand route is around a three hour paddle that meets at Ojiketa and ends in Center City. The scenic paddle is around two to two and a half hours and meanders around both North and South Center Lakes, also ending in Center City. Finally, the easy paddle is a one hour paddle that begins at Ki Chi Saga Park and ends in Center City. All three paddles will end in Center City and the group will head to Pizza Pub for refreshments and beverages. Please see the ad on page for more details.
