North Branch JROTC takes time for cadet inspection

North Branch Area Schools Superintendent Dr. Deb Henton, High School Principal Coleman McDonough and School Board Chair Kirby Ekstrom spent time with approximately 60 North Branch Junior ROTC cadets as part of cadet unit inspection last week.  Each participant in the program spoke personally with one of thedistrict officials about their experience and why they took advantage of the special program.  There was a 30-step drill demonstration and then lunch, followed by announcements of cadet awards for the year.  Supt. Henton told the students that the leadership skills they are practicing will serve them well and that working as part of a unit is something everybody needs to be able to do.  Henton applauded the female cadets who are active in the program, adding there are few women school superintendents she interacts with so she understands how it is being in the minority but and that they should continue to pursue challenges empowering them.  Principal McDonough thanked the students for representing North Branch so well. and for embracing this unique program.
