Joyce was born on March 3, 1934 in Minneapolis to Burdette and Lillian (Shosten) Olson. She was raised in the Lindstrom and Shafer areas, and attended Lindstrom and Taylors Falls Schools and graduated in 1951. She got her first job at Brown and Bigelow and lived in Minneapolis. She met the love of her life Dale Carlson from North Branch, and they were married September 1955. They lived in Lindstrom for a few years and then built their present home in North Branch, where they raised their three children and where Joyce worked part-time at Ace Hardware for 40 years. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, word finds and visiting with family and friends. Her great grandchildren were the best treat ever.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Kim (Dana) Johnson of North Branch, Mitch (Penny) Carlson of North Branch and Matthew (Mary) Carlson of Harris; sister, Joan Morrison of North Carolina; grandchildren, Derrick (Erin) Johnson, Megan (Luke) Anderson and James and Phillip Bartholomew; her five great grandchildren, Jillian, Ryker and Nolan Anderson and Madilyn and Brecken Johnson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Burdette and Lillian Olson; brother James Olson and grandson Andrew Dale Carlson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Jon Yurk officiating. Music will be provided by Deb Aulich and Jon Ekstrom. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, at church on Friday, June 8. Family interment at a later date.
