I-35 incident hurts two
State Patrol reports two young North Branch men were hurt May 26, when they were struck by a vehicle as they stood on the side of I-35 surveying deer damage to their Jeep Grand Cherokee.  The Jeep had been pulled to the side of the freeway and had stalled, after striking a deer as it traveled northbound about 11 p.m. between Stacy and North Branch.

Driver Couy Daniel Jensen, 18, and his passenger Michael Pascavage, 19, were taken to Regions with non-life threatening injuries, according to the patrol.

The Chevrolet Malibu that hit them, also headed north bound, was driven by Nicholas Gregory Otto, 24, of Lester Prairie.  The Malibu rolled, and the driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. Impaired driving charges are being investigated, the patrol added.

May 27 the sheriff patrol cars went to a number of fire complaints...the area is dry and in drought conditions and outdoor burning is discouraged.  One fire was on St. Croix Trail, Sunrise, and was handled about 8:40 a.m. when deputy advised landowner of burn laws.  Another was about 9 p.m. in Nessel Township on Bayberry Avenue. The burn was too large and deputy advised he’d give them 15 minutes to put out the blaze or he would dispatch firefighters.  Law enforcement was satisfied when fire was out.

May 25 people out fishing with bow and arrow on Horseshoe Lake reported a lakeshore property owner threw rocks at them and got belligerent, reported about 11 p.m.  Conservation Officer was handling the incident and will issue ticket by mail for harrassing behavior.

Riding lawnmower taken from shed on Stacy Trail. Item is a Husqvarna with maybe 42 inch cut.  No value estimate given.

May 22 an ambulance transported a female who sustained injuries in an unknown manner. She was found by DNR Interstate Park staff about 11:30 a.m. by the Taylors Falls Paddlewheel Boats area and went to St. Croix Regional Medical Center.
