This election is making me tired, thank goodness our local race is civil
I think by now, everyone recognizes the seriousness of the elections at hand. Not to say one party is right or one is wrong, but the animosity and angst being displayed this year is like no other. Think what you will, blame whom you will, but one thing is certain, this election will be big. Really big. Thank goodness our local elections are civil, and both candidates and residents agree the key to victory on Tuesday is community. We need to stick together in our community when the world is crumbling around us. Okay that was a tad bit melodramatic but at the same time not that far off.
The folks at Bayview Dental in Center City have a neat deal taking place. They want to buy your Halloween candy back. Before you start saying let kids be kids, they do have a good reason for the buy back that is not related to good dental hygiene. The candy ($2 per pound) will be shipped to our troops through a project called Operation Gratitude. If your kids are like mine, they used to get way more candy than they needed. It's a chance to teach them a good lesson and allow them to earn a few bucks while doing it. Bayview is located in Center City at 420 Grand Avenue.
Thank you to the wonderful men and women who gave their time to help at this year's Kids Outerwear Fair. The event helped over 100 families keep their children warm this winter with clothing that you were kind enough to donate. I can't say enough about Bonnie Houger and her group of angels, they are such caring, giving individuals and we are so lucky to have them in our community.
Speaking of helping people, for those of you who have donated clothing to the homeless shelter, thank you.
After speaking with the shelters, there is a major need for men's clothing. More importantly underwear and socks. If you have extras or if you have recently upgraded your underwardrobe, we would love to have your seconds. Just drop them off here at the Press and we will see to it that they get in the hands of the homeless.
