Donald Murray

Donald Mark Murray, age 89, of Mission, Texas formerly of Chisago City passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming.

Don was born to Anna and Mark Murray on January 19, 1929 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  He and his sisters, Mary, Annette, and Patty all grew up in North Minneapolis on Girard Street.  After graduating from Henry High School in 1947, Don joined the Army and proudly served our country for two years in the 216th Chemical Division.   Don met the love of his life, his “honey bundle” Kay Ritmire, in 1954 while boarding their horses at the same barn.  They were married December 1, 1956 and were blessed with seven children who filled their lives with love and chaos.

Don enjoyed his travels as a truck driver seeing the country for 40 years.  Don was a jack of all trades, he loved to farm, ride horses, ranching, calf roping, and cutting.  He loved all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing, trap shooting, bird watching, and skiing. He was a gifted craftsman, he could build and fix anything.

Donald Mark Murray; son, brother, husband, father and grandpa, uncle, and friend has left a legacy of love.  He emulates a relentless faith in God first and foremost. He has taught those who paid attention to be kind, work hard, stay humble, smile often, be honest and loyal, travel, never stop learning, be thankful always, and above all else, love.

Donald is survived by his wife Kay; daughters Mary Murray of Fridley, Michell (Chris) Leuthner of Stacy and Teresa (Travis) Anderson of Meeker, CO; sons Mark (Carol) of Forest Lake, Matt (Laura) of Amery, WI, Joe of Meeker, CO and Jim (Shannon) of Stacy; his 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, Annette, Mary and Patti and grandson Tyler.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church.  Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grand strandfh.com
