'They're great! Wait, what party are they?'and fire prevention week is here
Apparently I have been sleeping longer than Rip Van Winkle, because it seems like over-night the amount of hate for the opposite party has escalated to levels unseen before. It’s disgusting how our world has become if you are not with us we need to march, riot, and hate.
When did we become so divided? I know what each party will respond to that rhetorical question with. People always ask me what I thought of a news item the night prior and I have to answer honestly “I don’t watch it”. I can’t - I just can’t.
Go ahead and write me letters telling me I am one sided and am clearly on this side or that side, but then make sure you point out just how wrong I am. I would love to see some positivity, because I am just too dim to see it right now.
Sorry - had to get that off my chest.
We (the community) are doing great in kids’ outerwear fair donations. They can still use a little bit more winter clothing for children of all ages. The actual disbursement will take place in a couple of weeks, so you can still donate. Drop your outdoor wear items off at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lindstrom, or here at the Press.
This week is Fire Prevention Week.
It is our chance to thank those men and women who put their lives at risk with every call they answer. These men and women live among us, work among us and are our friends, relatives. This weekend they will be hosting open houses at their local fire halls. It’s their chance to showcase their workplace, equipment and technology. It is a wonderful place to visit with these awesome folks and if you have kids they will absolutely love it.
I hope you can stop by one of the fire halls and say thanks to the firefighters. Lindstrom’s open house runs Saturday from 10am to 1 pm. Center City's open house is Saturday and also runs from 10 to 1 pm. Almelund's open house is Saturday and runs from 9am to 2 pm. See you there.
