Halloween brings a ton of fun locally, Kids Outerwear Fair this week

As we near Halloween, there are a few places locally that you can enjoy Halloween and all of the fun that accompanies it.  First, grab the kids after school on Friday and head up town. That is where Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet Lindstrom will take place.  Local businesses in Taylors Falls, Shafer, Center City, Lindstrom and Chisago City will welcome any and all trick-or-treaters from 4-6 pm.  Just look for the poster  for trick-or-treat on Mainstreet in the window and come on in.  Kids will be treated to fun and treats compliments of our great local businesses.  If you think it is just one or two businesses participating, think again, there are over 50 businesses waiting to see your kids in their costumes.  See the ad in this Press for a list of participating businesses.

Today (Thursday) Trinity Lutheran Church will host the annual Kids Outerwear Fair.  The group of men and women who put on the fair have worked all year collecting gently used winter clothing to be disbursed to local families who are down on their luck right now.  If you are reading this and your children are in need of winter clothing that you may not be able to afford this winter season, please, please come to the Outerwear Fair.  There are no questions asked and the only reason these wonderful people do this is because they love our community and the children in it.  I have seen these garment donations and they are in great shape from mittens to coats and hats and of course boots.  Please don't let pride get in the way of your child's chance to stay warm this winter.  The fair runs Thursday through Saturday. If you know of someone who can be helped by the fair, by all means send them over.

This weekend the good folks at Chisago City would like to invite you to the Ojiketa Haunt.  This year's theme is mid-evil and I am told it is one of the best yet.  This is the last weekend for the haunt, so make sure you get there Friday or Saturday night.  The entire park is taken over by ghosts and goblins all just dying to scare you.
The cost is only $5 or $3 if you bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the local food shelf.

Saturday, during the day, Ojiketa is tamed down a bit for young kids to celebrate Halloween.  The annual Falloween Festival runs from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm and your kids are invited to come dressed in their costumes for an afternoon of absolute fun including pumpkin giveaways, face painting, trick-or-treating, crafts, hay rides and a hay slide.  There is even a kids version of a not-so-scary haunted house.  The event is free, but they do ask that you please bring a non-perishable food item or items to go to the local food shelf.

Chisago Lakes Community Education is hosting the annual Halloween Boogey Dance this Friday.  The dance is being held in the lunch room at the high school.  You and your kids will enjoy a night of dancing, pumpkin bowling, bean bag toss, refreshments and more.  You and your kids are asked to dress up to make the night all the more exciting.  The dance is aimed towards children ages three to second grade.  You can register on the Community Education website or at the door.

The Chisago Lakes Lions formally invite you to their annual pancake/french toast breakfast this Sunday.  The meal includes pancakes, french toast, eggs, meat and drinks.  The cost is only $7 and $2 for kids.  It runs from 8-1 pm at the High School.
