June Krueger

June Krueger, 92 passed away peacefully April 8, 2019. Born September 21, 1926, the first child to Jewel and Dagney Ellefson, West Fargo, ND.  She later welcomed a brother and sister who were with her in many memories throughout her life. As a child she excelled in tap dancing and continued to perform “tap” for her own children well into her 80’s! June enjoyed roller skating in her teens and took her first airline flight to skate in Chicago, IL.

In 1944 she graduated from Harding High School, St. Paul, MN. June enjoyed documenting family life and travel, including seven houses where she had lived in the St. Paul area.

Aug. 18, 1945 June married John “Jack” Krueger at Camp Lejeune, NC. Her passion to travel by train, plane, bus or automobile lead her to have adventures in every state in the USA. Decorative state plates hung in her kitchen, boasting of her accomplishment.  A blue eyed Norwegian, lefse maker, bingo player, antique collector, who taught her children the joy of standing outside in the rain, singing in the car, and eating tuna salad with watermelon was family ritual.  She was a city girl turned farmer’s wife. Alongside her husband she milked cows in Rush City, prior to relocating to Chisago City. June worked at Schlipp’s grocery store, was a bookkeeper at the Co-op gas station and was hired by Don Ferguson as office manager for the hospital in Chisago City, where she remained for 25 years.

Into retirement she played on leagues at Lindstrom golf course and tallied numerous trophies. June enjoyed playing bingo, sharing stories with friends and staff at Parmly Lakeview Apartments during her time there. We thank each of you for watching over her. Although the last three years apart, so much we’ve shared was already written in our hearts. Your distant laughter, conversation, and many tears have kept us right here waiting for you.

Survived by her children Janice Krueger, Craig (Dianna) Krueger, Dove Krueger, Jackie (Glenn) Law, siblings Paul (Peggy) Ellefson, Gloria VanRuden, five grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephew, many relatives and friends.

Cremation by Newcomers Funeral Home, FL.  Memorials to Northwoods Humane Society 7153 lake Blvd Wyoming MN 55092. To honor her life a graveside service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church cemetery, Chisago City, in the month of “June.”
