What a difference a year can make.

The Chisago Lakes girls lacrosse team was 0-11 before getting their first ever win last year, and it was the only one they would get all season.

This season, Chisago Lakes opened against Hermantown/Proctor, a team they lost to 9-8 last year, and they absolutely dusted them, winning 17-3 after taking their foot off the gas in the second half.

The other amazing stat from the game is the fact that Chisago Lakes didn’t score their 17th goal until the fifth game of the year last season, and they put up that many in just one contest in 2019.

Sophomore Abby Sprado opened the scoring, and had a hat trick just a few minutes into the game. Madison Phillips chipped in, scoring a hat trick before the first half had struck 15 minutes.

By halftime, Chisago Lakes led 12-1 and it was clear they were the far superior team to Hermantown-Proctor.

Just a few minutes into the second half, Grace Valleen finished of a hat trick of her own, giving three girls the trifecta and setting them up for plenty of success this season.

“It was a great start to the season for us, especially since we didn’t win much of anything last year,” Head Coach Dezera Seriacki said. “I’ve seen a lot of improvement from everyone on the team and everyone is pulling their weight, which make things run smoothly.  Overall, I’m very impressed with every girl on the squad so far.”
