Ki Chi Saga - the perfect ending to a great summer, so much to do
Ki Chi Saga Days officially begins Thursday with city wide garage sales. Frankie’s will host their bass tournament starting at 5 pm and the Uncommon Loon will host a cribbage tournament that runs from 5-8 pm. Kristine Wriding and Matt Glenna will be playing at the Loon that night as well.
Friday the garage sales continue and Moberg Park will be the place of interest with the farmers market that will feature a bouncy house and a cool program called Aliens: Escape from Earth! Glen Everhart will play later at the Loon.
Saturday everyone is invited to a ribbon cutting at Moberg Park for the official opening of the new shelter and bathrooms. I have seen them up close (ha ha not the bathrooms) and they are beautiful. What a great addition to the city. The ribbon cutting is at 9:30 am.
Try and find Moberg’s missing bike horn and you will take home some cold hard cash. Clues begin posting at City Hall at 9 am.
There is a great kids fishing tournament put on by Frankie’s at Paradise Park that runs from 10 am thru noon. Just about every kid leaves with a prize.
There is a skateboarding competition that begins at 11:30 am at Chuckie Lindquist Park and is open to all who enter.
Back at Moberg Park there is the crowning of Little Miss Ki Chi Saga and a magic show and many more musical guests. The night finishes with fireworks and a street dance at Frankie’s featuring Dirt Road Dixie.
Sunday begins with the Ki Chi Saga 5k run/walk that starts at Chuckie Lundquist Park at 8am. The grand day parade begins at 2 pm at the Primary school and winds its way up Old Towne Road at 2 pm. The whole celebration completes all the fun with a pie eating contest at 5 pm at Moberg Park.
Come on out - it’s free, it’s fun and it’s local.
A fun little side note - Winehaven will be at the Minnesota State Fair this year. They will be in the Minnesota Wine Country building on Underwood between Judson and Carnes Avenue. Why am I telling you this? Because not only are they there with their great wines, but they have raspberry wine slushies. My mouth is watering thinking about them already.
