Live nativity was moving, Merry Christmas to you and yours

Thanks to the children, women and men who braved the cold weather to put on a beautiful rendition of the birth of Jesus at First United Methodist Church on Saturday.  How they survived the cold is beyond me, I sat through the first show that only lasted about 20 minutes and I couldn’t feel my hands or my feet.  The actors were out there for four shows in negative temps.  The show was awesome as usual and the crowd absolutely loved it including me.

Speaking of Christmas, the folks at First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom invite anyone who will be alone on Christmas Day for a wonderful home-cooked meal.  They are asking that you make a reservation by calling 651-257-4306.

On a similar note, the folks that put it on are in need of a little help.  There are a few spots open for volunteers to assist with the meal, usually shifts run around two or three hours but I am sure they will be happy with whatever time you can offer.  If you would like to volunteer either in person or a make a monetary donation, you can do so by calling the same number as the reservations 651-257-4306.  Money donated will go to buying groceries for the meal.  Thanks for considering it.

I know this is a little early, but our next paper will come out right after Christmas.  So it is with the utmost sincerity that I would like to take this time to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.

God has blessed us with such a wonderful community filled with so many beautiful souls.  I thank God every day for getting to work in this community, with some of the greatest employees a boss could ask for.  We are so appreciative of you the readers and you our advertisers.  You make this paper run each and every week.

I know I haven’t written about this for a while now, but we collect clothing for the homeless here at the Press.  We have taken down just over 60 truckloads full of clothing that you have been so gracious in donating.  That is amazing.  These items of clothing are NOT donated to thrift stores but go directly to homeless shelters.  So rest assured, if you donate something it is being utilized by someone who is in dire need of it.
If you want to donate, we are accepting warm clothing including coats, hats, gloves and mittens and boots for every age.  Socks are like gold, they are always in need and much appreciated.  I do ask that you keep your donations to clothing.  We just don’t have the space or the need for household items other than personal items such as deodorant, toothpaste etc.
