They started out strong with a win at the annual Wild Mountain Invitational on Friday, December 20.
Jamie Mower led the way by sweeping the top spots. He had the fastest run on the blue course, the fastest run on the red course, and was fastest overall. He finished the blue course in 33.67 seconds and the red course in 33.95 seconds for a combined time of 1:07.62.
Right behind him was Augie Brown, who came in second place with a combined time of 1:09.20. He was the second best finisher on the blue course with a time of 34.25 seconds and was the fifth best finisher on the red course with a time of 34.95 seconds.
The ‘Cats got three other skiers with clean runs, and that helped round out their winning score of 570.5, which beat second place Stillwater, who had 555.5 points.
Their other nice runs came from Zach Hennen, who came in 11th place with a time of 1:12.71. He was 11th on the blue course and 17th on the red course.
Jack LeTourneau put together two nice runs in 31st and 25th place, which placed him in 23rd overall at the large meet. And Mike Frischmon rounded out the top scorers, with a 25th place finish in 1:15.13. He was 25th on the blue course and 31st on the red.
Girls
The girls team had a nice race, securing fourth place with a score of 521. Brainerd had 555 points to win.
Sophie Janzig grabbed the top spot in the Chisago Lakes lineup, finishing in fourth place overall with a combined time of 1:11.37 She was the sixth best finisher on the blue course in 35.05 seconds, and she climbed to the third spot on the red course in 36.23 seconds. That scored 151 points for the team.
Kaylee Peterson and Megan Cartier strung together top 30 finishes behind Janzig. Peterson came in 24th with a combined time of 1:17.68 and Cartier came in 29th with a combined time of 1:18.25
Megan Adams had a great run on the red course, coming in 20th place, but a couple little hiccups on the blue course cost her some time and a higher finish. She still came in 42nd place overall with a time of 1:20.68.
Annah Mellum and Lauryn Lundberg were the other finishers for CL, with Mellum coming in 76th place and Lundberg in 104th.
