The sheriff personnel performed compliance checks on establishments licensed to sell alcohol December 16 and 17 and a few of the businesses had staff who sold to an underage buyer. The county attorney will look into charging related to the incidents.
The places that allegedly sold to the decoy buyer were Rush City Liquors on 4th Street on December 16 and on December 17 at the Grumpy Minnow in Center City, Goat Saloon in Taylors Falls and Wild River Bar & Grill in Almelund.
There was lots of traffic enforcement activity over the past week with dozens of tickets and warnings issued for speed, seatbelt non-use, cell phones, etc. Main Street in Taylors Falls yielded a high number of offenders.
The sheriff’s snowmobile patrol was also out around the county and multiple tickets were issued along the trails.
The trail as it approaches 335th and County Road 30 in Lent Township was a hot spot, being positioned next to a field that’s posted No Trespassing-- known as an attractive nuisance to a number of sledders.
Also two snowmobilers were stopped an offense at 410th and County Road 30 in North Branch. Another location, at Stark Road and 35 in Harris, was a popular snowmobile warning ticket site.
December 22 a male customer was trespassed (is not allowed to return) from the Pizza Pub in Center City after getting into a “scuffle” with another patron. Incident reported about 8:15 p.m.
December 21 a small plane crashed about 1:15 p.m. at Rush City around East 4th Street. The pilot was unhurt. The deputy said it was his first solo flight. The NTSB was notified.
A fleeing suspect was heading northbound on I-35 in excess of 140 mph, according to preliminary details. The driver was being pursued by other agencies and the sheriff and state patrol assisted. The vehicle was able to elude authorities but was eventually located in Rush City-- near the state prison when it was forced into a ditch. The incident started about 11 p.m.
There was a dryer fire at a residence on 316th in Lent Township. Stacy-Lent firefighters took care of the site.
Two Chisago Lakes High School students cited for vaping on school property.
December 20 a male was arrested for a disturbance at Valkommen Apartments in Lindstrom, about 8:20 p.m.
A juvenile aged suspect was identified in connection with multiple thefts of items at Wild Mountain. Authorities were called to the ski area about midnight.
December 18 theft of credit cards from an unlocked vehicle in Stacy reported. Loss was overnight.
December 16 there was an incident of contraband making its way into the county jail. The substance tested positive as heroin. A Wyoming female arrested the day before is suspected of transporting the substance.
