Each week, the names of children who returned their reading logs were put into a drawing for one of over 65 books that were given away.
Students read 76,158 minutes outside of class, surpassing the school goal of 60,000 minutes in just three weeks.
Natalie Norman, 6th grade, won first place for the second year in a row topping the charts by reading 5575 minutes and received a new 2019 Guinness Book of World Records. Violet Gleason, 6th grade homeschooler, came in as a close second reading 5399 minutes, and winning a graphic Adventure Bible, and third place went to Ellie Lee, 5th grade, reading 5026 minutes and winning a new book. Top readers for each grade level were: Otto Burmeister, K4 preschool; Lola Morgan, kindergarten homeschooler; Lydia Brink,1st grade; Lincoln Jewson, 2nd grade; James Rutten, 3rd grade; Franklin Jewson, 4th grade; Ellie Lee, 5th grade, and Natalie Norman, 6th grade. Top readers received a new book, a chocolate “Top Dawg”s on a stick and an award.
