The family of Vilhelm Moberg, Swedish author of  'The Emigrants' saga,  toured this area from July 4 through July 7 to walk in the footsteps of their grandfather and uncle. They were led by Sally Barott, of Swedish Circle Tours. The group of 35 hailed from Stockholm Sweden, South Carolina, Michigan, Texas and Louisiana. Touring stops included the Karl Oskar House, at Kichi-Saga Park, the house Moberg relied on for creative inspiration and a model of where Karl Oskar and Kristina book characters may have lived.  He found it during his visit here in 1948. Fictional character Karl Oskar (brought to life by Sven S.) met the group along with local dignitaries and volunteers staffing the house. Lindstrom Mayor Kevin Stenson presented the group with 2019 Karl Oskar Days buttons. Plastic Products Company representative Twyla Mitchell gave replicas of the Lindstrom Coffee Pot Water Tower. They also toured the pioneer Glader Cemetery, rode on a Taylors Falls Scenic Riverboat, and saw Gammelgarden Museum, Scandia, the Karl Oskar & Kristina statue and Moberg’s desk at the Chisago County Press Office.   More highlights were antique shopping at Almelund Mercantile, the Vilhelm Moberg statue and WineHaven Winery in Chisago City.  The tour concluded with the group attending Chisago Lake Lutheran Church Worship Service, in Center City, July 7.  

The group had a wonderful time and their family reunion was very special.  Tack sa mycket to all who were involved in this very special connecting of generations and cultures.
