Karl Oskar Days was a blast! We already can't wait until next year

Karl Oskar Days was a blast! We already can't wait until next year

I hope you all had  a chance to take in one or more of the awesome Karl Oskar Days events last weekend. If the celebration seemed a little bit different this year, that’s because it was. The event was revamped and boy could you tell. I thought it was great. Pauline Hinsch took over as the Karl Oskar Days organizer with visions of change and bringing a bit of fresh air into an already successful celebration. There hadn’t been much new and exciting the past couple of years, but Pauline and her awesome group of volunteers added new events such as pickleball and tennis tournaments and even a homerun derby.

They emphasized the Karl Oskar house tours, the fictional homestead of the namesake of the event, and just made it a priority for there to be something for everyone.

All in all, it was an awesome Karl Oskar Days with (hot) weather to match.

There was one bit of disappointing news with Karl Oskar Days. It seems the official clue writer and snuff box hider (if that’s a word) really did a poor job this year. Why? Because the snuff box was found in record time by the Dahl family, who are repeat winners.

Mark my words, next year will be one of the most difficult snuff box hunts ever and if I am correct, the payout will be the largest as well.

Speaking of Karl Oskar Days, I wanted to thank all of the candidates who took part in the Karl Oskar Days ambassador pageant. Congratulations to Abby Pratt, Keegan Miller, and Olivia Koesters, who were crowned ambassadors for 2019-20. They will represent Karl Oskar Days and the Chisago Lakes community at other statewide celebrations and events and I am positive they will do a wonderful job.

The Chisago Lakes Chamber is still in need of volunteers for the Chisago Lakes Triathlon. The tri has grown into a well-oiled machined and it only works with the help of us. Trust me when I say, if you can only help for a little while, they will welcome you with open arms. There is a need for water station help, traffic direction, transition stations and more.

If you want to volunteer, thank you in advance, and you can call the Chisago Lakes Chamber at 651-257-1177.

The Chisago County Press is looking for a bookkeeper. If you want to work close to home with a flexible schedule, this may be the job for you. We are looking for an honest, detail-oriented person who loves our community as much as we do. If this sounds like you or someone you know, please give us a call at 651-257-5115 or e-mail your resume to [email protected]. You can also drop it off at our office on 12631 Lake Boulevard, Lindstrom, MN or mail it to PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045.
