July 10 Lakes Area Police received report of a German shorthair pointer dog missing in the area of Kent Street in Chisago City.
Fatal motorcycle crash in Center City July 10
The Franconia Township man who crashed his motorcycle into a parked vehicle in downtown Center City Wednesday, July 10, has been identified by the sheriff’s office as Ronald C. Carlson, age 60.
Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to the crash scene at 325 Summit Avenue, at 5:03 p.m. Carlson was wearing a helmet and not carrying a passenger when he hit an unoccupied parked vehicle.
Center City First Responders began CPR initially. Carlson was transported by Lakes Region EMS to Fairview Hospital in Wyoming, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, according to authorities.
The Chisago County sheriff’s office is investigating.
July 12 a DUI arrest resulted from a Taylors Falls streetlight reportedly struck by a vehicle driven by a male suspect. Call came in about 1:45 a.m. The light is in downtown Taylors Falls.
Deputies were involved in a brief foot pursuit of a man fleeing a warrant arrest. The authorities went to a home in Franconia Township and the man ran and was lost initially, then later in the day (4:45 p.m.) a report of a suspicious person near St. Croix Trail and 263rd came in. The suspect was then apprehended.
July 13 Wyoming firefighters reported to the scene of a possible fire in Chisago City, during the Karl Oskar Days parade in Lindstrom, which had local fire rigs tied-up. Turned out to be burnt bacon. Incident happened about 6:25 p.m. at an address on Fairway Lane.
A distressed male threatening to have police kill him was reported at an address on Quinlan Avenue, rural Lindstrom, about 5 a.m. Lakes Area and deputies deescalated the situation and Lakes Region EMS transported the subject for medical care.
A female volunteering in the KO Days dunk tank was hurt and taken by private transport when she injured her ankle and foot falling in the tank.
Sunday, July 14 a crash at Highway 8 and Lawrence Creek Road reported about 8:40 a.m. Nobody was injured. A car heading westbound was turning left into Lawrence Creek Road (between Interstate Park and the round-a-bout) and was rear-ended by a second westbound vehicle.
A little used generator activated in the stormy weather at Vindauga View in Chisago City and created smoke resulted in a fire call to Chisago City firefighters. They monitored the engine . (Alarm actually went off twice, once about 9:44 and again at 10:28 p.m.
Traffic signals were malfunctioning in the Chisago Lakes region due to strom activity and Lakes Area Police, deputies and state patrol were addressing situations all night.
