What's going on around here? too much to list but fun for you!
The race begins at Paradise Park, Chisago City, at 7 am with the swim portion which transitions into the bike leg which spans 56 miles through Stacy, North Branch, Harris, Taylors Falls, Center City and Lindstrom. The bikes make their way back to Paradise Park before the runners take to the streets. They will run down Old Towne Road and onto Chisago Boulevard, north on Morgan Avenue before returning the same way. Why am I telling you the exact route? Simply to come out and cheer the racers on and to please, please be careful driving on Sunday.
The chamber is still in need of volunteers to assist with various stations, so if you could spare an hour or two it would be most appreciated. They can be reached at 651-257-1177.
Also, the good folks who run Relay for Life would love for you to join them at the Chisago County Relay for Life celebration August 3 at North Branch Outlets. The event runs from 4 pm until 10 pm with the opening ceremonies beginning at 5 pm.
If you are battling cancer or someone is, who you are near and dear to, I would encourage attending the event. The amount of support available and the love you will receive is overwhelming. Don’t go through this alone - you don’t have to. If you have lost someone to cancer and let’s face it, who hasn’t, you are also encouraged to come out.
Center City would like to invite you and your family to the annual Center City Days this weekend.
Beginning Friday, you are invited to participate and/or watch the kiddie parade which begins at the church at 5:30pm. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite super hero. Friday evening at Watertower Park there is a community picnic and you are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
Saturday begins with a mini-traithlon that gets going at the lower parking lot of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church at 9 am. There will be kids carnival games in front of Marine Dock and Lift (next to Pizza Pub) all day. Try your hand at a bags tournament behind Pizza Pub that begins at 3pm.
Test your luck hunting for the lost lutefisk, where clues are posted at 1 pm at the main tent and every hour until found.
Chisago Lake Lutheran Church will host its super-popular community pig roast Saturday afternoon from 4-6pm.
Immediately following the pig roast (don’t worry it goes right nearby) is the Grand Day Parade featuring Grand Marshal Terrie Trudeau.
Saturday wraps up with the popular street dance at the firehouse with DFUNQ’D Band.
Sunday the Center City Fire Department invites everyone to their annual pancake breakfast which runs from 8am until noon. Cloggers will perform under the big tent at 11 am, and also at 11, there is a classic car show nearby the kids’ games.
Chisago Lake Lutheran will hold the popular ice cream social from 1-3pm and the entire weekend wraps up with a boat parade that runs from Sunset Point to the DNR dock across from Grumpy Minnow. Plenty to take in, I know but it’s nice to have so many options!
