This new school is also going to house district administrative operations. The district offices are currently in Scottsdale Mall on Hwy 8 in Lindstrom. The middle school space where the offices moved out of has been converted to house special education.
Students attending the new Lakeside School will be grades 2 and up to 5. Space freed up by shifting young students now attending Primary School on Old Towne Road, will be used for Chisago Lakes’ pre-K, kindergarten and grade 1 program.
The school site is starting to look more finished with asphalt layers (weather permitting) being laid on driveways and parking lots. The school will also feature two ballfields being made possible in a cooperative agreement with LARA.
Lakeside II was part of a $65 million overall referendum package voters approved in May 2017.
No word yet on a demolition date for the old Lakeside School, which is on a seven acre lakeshore site in Chisago City. A large garage on this property is up for highest bid. See the District 2144 website or contact the business manager for details on how to submit a bid.
