“Be Humble, Be Kind and SAY THANK YOU”

Lloyd W. Peterson, age 99, of Wyoming passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at his home at Meadows on Fairview Assisted Living, in Wyoming.

Lloyd was born on September 27, 1919 in Taylors Falls to parents, John and Jennie (Reinholds) Peterson.  He attended Taylors Falls Schools graduating in 1937. Lloyd worked and helped on the family farm before his family lost their farm during the Great Depression.  Lloyd continued to work for other farmers before he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.  He married the love of his life Willma Kachele and they spent 67 years of marriage together before she passed away on April 25, 2015.  Lloyd and Willma owned and operated their own dairy farm in Scandia for many years. They sold the farm and bought a home in Lindstrom in 1980.  Lloyd loved animals and cared for many stray animals that made their way to his farm.  He truly enjoyed his reunions over the years with his former military members.  He volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and helping his neighbors with yard work and blowing snow.  He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity as well as his great sense of humor.

Lloyd is survived by two nephews, Bob (Teresa) Peterson of Normal, IL and Rick (Lori) Peterson of Omaha, NE as well as special friends, Rick and Sue Novak, Jean Peikert, Darelyne Gustafson and Joyce Metcalf.   He is preceded in death by his wife Willma in 2015, parents John and Jennie Peterson; brothers Roland and Gordon Peterson and sister Lucille and mother -in-law Louise Kachele.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Rev. Taryn Montgomery officiating.  Visitation took place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, on Wednesday.  Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m.  Monday, June 17, 2019 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

The family would like to especially thank all the staff at Meadows on Fairview Assisted Living, in Wyoming for all the wonderful care and concern for Lloyd during his time with them.
