Burton was a lifelong farmer and in his earlier years was a road grader operator for Wyoming Township. He had a love for farming and doing special projects around the farm. Burton married LaQuita Mager in 1963, and they later divorced. Burton was proud of the home that he and LaQuita designed and built. The house is 40 feet in diameter and has a spiraling staircase around an oak tree at the center. Burton built a rotating sitting area on the second-floor deck so that he could watch the world in his older years. He was a dairy farmer until the age of 65 and then switched to beef and crops. Burton was a board member of Anoka Electric Cooperative and was on the Zion Lutheran Church Council. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and neighbors. Burton was proud of all his children and their accomplishments.
Funeral Service were 11 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at South Green Lake Cemetery. Grandstrand Funeral Home of Lindstrom handled the arrangements.
