Juniors Ben and Will Forsberg went to the state tournament hoping to represent Chisago Lakes with a high finish.

That high finish didn’t necessarily come, but they still played well and were great ambassadors for Chisago Lakes’ golf.

“Ben and Will gave Bunker Hills Golf Course their best efforts, but their scores weren’t indicative of their capabilities,” Head Coach Bryon Rogers said. “Both of the brothers will use this as experience to try and make the tournament again next year and give the leaderboard a run.”

Ben finished in 53rd place with a score of 160. He shot a 78 on the first day and an 82 on the second day. Will came in 79th place with a 168. He shot an 82 and an 86. Rogers said he had a few struggles at the end of both rounds that really ballooned his score late.

Although the Forsberg brothers will be back, a huge chunk of seniors won’t be  next year, including Thomas Overgaard, Justin Lawry, Jackson Waltman, Sam Helland, Jonny Bodell and Alex Walden. A majority of those guys have been golfing on the varsity squad since they were in middle school and Rogers took over.

“I cannot say enough abotu the guys. They have been great teammates over the past six years and they grew into fantastic role models and young men,” Rogers said. The program will miss them, I will miss them, and they set a great precedent for others to follow in the future.”
