Donald Pauley

Donald Lloyd Pauley was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 18, at the age of 84, in the arms of his beloved wife and surrounded by his family.

Don was born on November 11, 1934 in Stillwater, Minnesota to Lloyd and Mildred (Palmer) Pauley.  Later in his childhood his family made the move to Lindstrom, where Don graduated from high school and joined the US Navy, from which he was honorably discharged.  Upon completion of his service to our country, he went to work at Andersen Windows in Bayport, where he met his one and only love, Marie Krongard.  Don worked in shipping and Marie was the receptionist.  Every morning he would watch her run across the railroad tracks on her way to work and thought she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen.  And he thought that until the day he died.   Don and Marie married in 1957 and were immediately blessed with two children, which is when Don decided he needed a college degree.  He completed his B.S. in Business from St. Cloud State and then moved his family to the Twin Cities to start his long career as a successful businessman.  Along the way Don and Marie added two more children to their family.  Over their nearly 62 years of marriage, life took Don and Marie from the Twin Cities to Sparta, Wisconsin and then back to Lindstrom to enjoy retirement. Don’s two passions were his family and enjoying the outdoor life at the family lake and hunting cabin in Park Rapids, MN.  Always an adventurous risk-taker, you never knew whether Don would come home from a trek in the woods with dinner or an injury!  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren, right up until last deer hunting season.

Don is survived by his wife Marie; his four children Susan (Doug) Shockley, NancyJo (Larry) Houk, Tim (Mary) Pauley and Jon (Jeanne) Pauley; nine grandchildren Stephanie (Chip), Ryan, Michelle (Erik), Tyler, Lauren, Mitchel, Trevor, Matthew and Alyssa and great-grandson Taehan.  Don is pre-deceased by his parents, his two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in St. Croix Falls, WI with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Salem Ev. Lutheran Congregation Cemetery in Stillwater, MN. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
