I have a lot of friends who golf. A lot.  Nothing puts me to sleep quicker than them talking about a recent round they shot.  Don't get me wrong, I love to hear the story - if it has a good ending or it makes me laugh, but in many cases, it is just someone rehashing their round shot by shot.  Why do I mention this? Because I am going to tell you how my day of fishing went last Saturday on the fishing opener.  Keep in mind what I just wrote about golf. So here goes... My day began at 6 am and by 6:30 a.m. I, and a good friend,  were on the water.  From there on fishing was terrible.  Now, I got the point across without boring you to tears.  Maybe next year I will have a better day to elaborate on and on about.

The Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is still in need of volunteers to help work the triathlon on July 28. There are many different areas and time slots available for those who only have a little bit of time,  or those of you who don't mind spending the entire day volunteering.  There are water stations, transition stations, flagmen positions, you name it, they need it.  My family has worked the triathlon as long as it has been in the area, it's a great chance to spend a beautiful day with friends making our triathlon one of the best in the country.  If you would like to volunteer, I encourage you to call the chamber at 651-257-1177, they will be happy to hear from you.

This weekend is an event that was new last year to our area and had a great turnout.

I am speaking about the Lakes Area Royal Faire.  The Royal Faire is a step back in time to the renaissance era with hundreds (yes hundreds) of actors and fans dressed as their favorite characters.  There is live entertainment non-stop, with food and tons of vendors on hand.  With the popularity of a certain HBO show,  I am positive this year's show will be twice as busy as last year.

The event takes place Saturday and Sunday at Lions Park in Lindstrom and runs from 9 am to 7 pm both days.

One of Lindstrom’s long time business owners has left us.  Dick Fuller ran Ben Franklin in downtown Lindstrom for decades, and has  passed away.  My father and Dick were great friends - they were both complete smart-alecs that just fed off of each other.  Dick was a great guy who would continuously reach out to my family after dad’s passing.  He will be missed dearly.  His yard was meticulous, his old Chevy pick-up was as well.  The shortage of toothpicks should be less of a problem now that Dick is gone.
