Richard R. Fuller, age 87, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at his apartment in Isabelle’s House, at Parmly on The Lake.

Richard was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 22, 1931 and grew up on St. Paul’s “east side.” He graduated from Johnson High School in 1949. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After completing his service, he worked for F.W. Woolworth. In that job, he traveled to many stores throughout the Midwest. During this time, he married Joyce Brings on September 20, 1958. In 1963, Richard moved his family to Lindstrom where he purchased his own variety store on Main Street. Shortly thereafter, he brought his store under the umbrella of the Ben Franklin brand.

Richard was a fixture on Lindstrom’s main street for many years. He knew everyone on the street and particularly in the local coffee shops and cafes, where he enjoyed many cups of coffee with friends and fellow businessmen. He was very active in community organizations such as the Lindstrom Commercial Club and served on the board of the Lakes Area Recreation Association for many years. He was a volunteer softball coach and hockey referee. He was named Grand Marshal of the Karl Oskar Days Parade. After his retirement, Richard made many trips to Garrison, North Dakota in the summer to visit his favorite walleye fishing spots. He spent his winters in Florida and would never leave until well after spring training was over for his favorite team, the Minnesota Twins. Richard lived in Lindstrom for over 50 years, until 2015, when he moved to an apartment in Isabelle’s House, Chisago City.

Richard is survived by, and will remain always in the hearts of his children, Randall (Audrey) and Sharon (Daniel); granddaughters Brittney (Hayden) and Bryanna; step-grandchildren Daniel J. and Marguerite (Jason); several great grandchildren; longtime companion, Kay Schoeberl and her children: Debbie (Joel), Lynn (Joel), Shelly (Carl), Kathy (Al), Kim (Paula), and Joe (Jessi); as well as many other extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Friday service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom.
