Man wanted for attempted murder in Sunrise Township; three others in custody
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office would like to know the whereabouts of a male believed to have been involved in an incident, May 16 in Sunrise Township. Authorities were called to what was initially described as a home invasion about 40 minutes after midnight. On arriving they found a 22-year-old male sustained serious injury from a gunshot wound. There were multiple suspects fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to the North Branch Lakes Region EMS base, where he was airlifted to a metro trauma center.
While other suspects from the scene have been placed in custody, according to Sheriff Brandon Thyen, as of Friday May 24 the man pictured is still sought.
Charges against two minor-aged suspects for attempted murder are pending.
Through investigation, this was determined not to be a random act as suspects and victim are acquaintances. Law enforcement is looking for assistance from the public in locating Nicholas Isaiah Antoine James, DOB 05/25/2000. It is believed that James is in the St. Cloud area with ties to Chicago, Illinois. Anyone with information on James’ whereabouts should contact your local law enforcement. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Assisting law enforcement agencies included the North Branch Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, St. Cloud Police Department, and Benton County Sheriff’s Office. This case is currently under investigation and future updates may be provided as they become available.
