Congrats to coach Bill Weiss and his Wildcat Football team for making it to the State Tournament.  These kids have had quite the year with dealing with some major injuries, but still managing to get hot at the right time. The public is invited to come watch the game at Centennial High School, at 1 pm Saturday.  Let’s go Cats!

This Saturday the public is invited to the Lindstrom Community Center for a garage sale.  Why the community center? That’s where there will be a massive garage sale supporting the Chisago Lakes Marching Band.  Not your average fundraiser, this one is a bit more pressing.  You see, the band has been wearing uniforms that were bought in 1984 and yes they are wool.  They are trying to raise enough to purchase 75 new uniforms with your help. The community center will be filled with great merchandise and goodies all for purchase.  The sale runs from  8 am to 5 pm.

As we get closer to Thanksgiving I want to remind you of some great community meals where you can enjoy a meal with other community members.  This week I want to ask your help.  The Chisago Lakes Community Thanksgiving Meal has been in existance for decades and usually serves around 400 or more residents on Thanksgiving Day.  It takes a small army to pull the meal off and as it stands this army is in need of volunteers.  There are open spots in all areas from set-up to clean-up.  It’s not your whole day, just a small part and it makes you feel so good.  If you would like to volunteer first let me say thank you. Secondly, you can call Christene at 651-257-2307 for more information or to sign up. 

Saturday, at the Chisago Lakes Arena, close to the high school in Lindstrom, you are invited to bring your children ages 4 to 9 to try hockey for free.  
They can learn the basics of skating and hockey in a great relaxed atmosphere.  All your child or children will need is a pair of snowpants or loose fitting sweatpants, a pair of regular gloves, and a helmet of any sort, even a bike helmet.  Skates will be provided as well as hockey gear. The event begins at 11am.

Last week I wrote about a couple of Veterans Day dinners that all local Vets are invited to. I made a mistake with the Taylors Falls meal. I should have said all Veterans are invited to Taylors Falls Elementary for coffee and cookies at 10am and then over to the Taylors Falls Fire Department for a wonderful roast beef meal following the meet and greeet with the kids.  

I said last week, this was on Veterans Day. I apologize-- it is Friday, November 8. Please come if you can, it is a great time.

On Veterans Day all Veterans are invited to Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City for a great dinner.  The meal runs from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Our VFW post 1687 and Legion posts 83 and 272 are puttting on this wonderful meal.  The meal is free for veterans with a free will offering for others.  

Winehaven invites you to the annual “Sip and Shop” market event Saturday.  They will have a ton of vendors on hand where you can shop and sip some of their awesome wine.  The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
