Kay was born to Alice and Charles Ritmire on March 16, 1936. Kay and her twin brother Ken, brother, Louie, and sister, Beverly, enjoyed their youth growing up in Minneapolis.
Kay’s love of horses and passion for trick riding professionally at rodeos led her to the love of her life, Don Murray. They were married December 1, 1956, and moved to the farm in Stacy in 1966, where they raised seven children. Kay was a beloved school bus driver for Chisago Lakes School District for nearly 20 years. She also enjoyed gardening, volleyball, and she loved to dance and even taught line dancing. She cherished her travels across the west with her husband. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Kay’s unwavering faith blessed all who knew her through her endless prayers. Her unconditional love and forgiveness is the glue that keeps her family bound together.
Kay is survived by her seven children; Mark Murray (Carol) of Lindstrom; Matt Murray (Laura) of Amery, WI; Joe Murray, of Meeker, CO; Mary Murray, of Fridley; Michelle Leuthner (Chris) of Stacy; Jim Murray (Shannon) of Stacy, and Teresa Anderson (Travis) of Meeker, CO. Her 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Murray, her parents, her sister, Beverly Northey and grandson, Tyler Chelberg.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
