This weekend is the last weekend before Halloween.  There is still plenty of time to enjoy the spirit of Halloween before the big day.  Ojiketa Haunt is in full swing with the 2019 scare campaign.  I am told the crowds have come out in droves to enjoy a local scare for a very reasonable price.  For only $5, you can enjoy acres of haunted buildings and woods.  Get this, if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food the price then drops to $3 per person.  You can’t argue with those prices folks.

Saturday the scary monsters take a break and go away for a while and the kid friendly monsters and characters come to Ojiketa for the super-popular Falloween.  This is a kid-centric celebration that is all about Halloween and having fun.  Kids will be treated to kid-friendly haunted houses, arts and crafts, kid games, a magic show and of course trick-or-treating.  

Saturday’s weather forecast is improving every day so all things are looking up.  The event runs from 2:30pm until 4:30pm.  Make sure to dress your children in their favorite costumes and bring your cameras!

If your family is in a bit of a down time financially, and you are wondering how you are going to clothe your kids for the weather, please consider visiting the 2019 Kids Outerwear Fair.  The fair is in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom and runs October 24-26.  This is a free event with no questions asked. These amazing people work all year to amass nice warm winter kids’ clothing just to make sure children stay warm this winter.  Because of the number of attendees they will provide you with a number and you can wait in your warm vehicle until it’s time to shop.

Saturday afternoon the great folks at Spring Lake Church would love to have you enjoy their very popular Kroppkakor (dumplings) Supper, which features awesome Swedish meatballs and other savory foods.  

They will have a bake and craft sale with the supper. Spring Lake Lutheran church is located off Hwy 95, west of North Branch.

If you prefer breakfast out, Chisago Lakes Lions will host the annual pancake and french toast breakfast this Sunday from 8 am to 12:30pm at the Chisago Lakes High School.  They are asking that you please bring non-perishable food items to help fill backpacks that are sent home to families in need with local children. A great cause that is utilized almost every day in our local schools.

So much for enjoying the fall.... I woke up this morning to find a lake in our backyard formed from our overflowing creek which is normally dry this time of the year.  This...this is getting old.  Zero chance I could live in Seattle.
