Polly was born June 7, 1926 in Franconia Township, to Allan and Florence (Broecker) Moody. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school at Boo School, south of Lindstrom. She graduated from Chisago Lake High School with the class of 1944. Upon graduation she worked for two years at Griggs, Cooper & Co. in St. Paul.
June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to LeeVerne Peterson. They made their home in Center City, where they raised their three children. Polly enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed being active in 4-H as a leader for many years. Polly and LeeVerne owned and operated Peterson Abstract Company. In 1990, Polly and LeeVerne moved to Lindstrom. Polly retired from their business in 1992, following LeeVerne’s passing in 1991. On January 21, 1995, Polly was united in marriage to Kermit Christensen. They enjoyed traveling and gardening until his passing in 2008.
Polly is preceded in death by parents Allan and Florence Moody, husbands LeeVerne Peterson and Kermit Christensen, daughter Patricia Budig, son-in-law Steven Budig, grandson Logan Browning, sister, Lucille Quist, and brother-in-law Curtis Quist. Survived by children Suzanne (Duane) Browning and Jim (Sara) Peterson, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; Kermit’s children and other dear family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City with Rev. Taryn Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 24 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
