Chisago Lakes Lions members had to hustle at the annual breakfast at the Chisago Lakes high School Sunday October 27.  A steady stream arrived in search of fresh pancakes, french toast, sausage, and eggs plus to have a look-see at the silent auction items in the school foyer.  Pictured, top right: students in the Honor Society stepped up and made sure everybody had a full cup of coffee and a clean table.

Donations of food items for the local food shelf were gladly accepted. The Knuth Family (Chad, Courtney, Liam and Noah) filled five boxes.  The Girl Scouts Troop 57664 and Cub Scout Pack 144 got involved. Cub Scouts helped cleanup and the girls collected food donations at two events, plus a $300 cash contribution, which was combined with the Lions $200 to be used by the food pantry in Chisago City.  Food items supply local school children with something to eat over school breaks and weekends.  As the BackPack 4 Kids Project, students’ own backpacks are discreetly stocked with non-perishable food goods while they attend class, which they bring home.

The National Honor Society students will pick up food donations on halloween in Center City, Chisago City, Lindstrom, Shafer and taylors Falls, so if you see some older trick-or-treaters heading to your door,  dig into your pantry and see what you have to contribute.
