Mosaic artist Cathie Hendren took home a nearly perfect score for her first time ever at the State Fair, competing in Creative Arts.  She got 99 points out of 100 possible and nabbed all the ribbons.  Her terrific cat image is of her sister’s pet, and is made of pieces of glass, with the blue background complete tiles.  Hendren, who is  Music Director for St Gregory’s Catholic Church in North Branch, only got started doing mosaics two-and-a-half years ago.  Anybody interested in mosaics should check-in with the Facebook group at mosaicmentoring.  The artists there were a big help, she says.  Hendren welcomes inquiries about doing custom images, you can see more of her pieces at Evergreen coffeeshop in Wyoming and Wild Mountain Winery, outside of Almelund.   E mail her at [email protected].
