Nature party? Count me in! Still time to apply for a community grant
Shafer Days seemed busier than usual and the car show keeps growing and growing. Soon it will stretch from Highway 8 to 310th Street.
Apple Fest had its usual sunny warm day on Sunday. The apples were awesome and the desserts were even better!
Committees for both celebrations need to be commended. We are so lucky here.
I would like to apologize to the readers and to Chisago Lake Lutheran Church.
Last week I formatted an upcoming notice inviting the public to an informative happy hour at the church on September 17. Insert your own joke here; but for some reason I left out that the event featured non-alcholic drinks or kiddie cocktails during the event. I apologize if the upcoming item offended anyone and I certainly didn’t mean to offend the church-- who we have a great relationship with.
The Friends of Allemansrätt Wilderness Park in Lindstrom would love for you to come out on Sunday for a nature party. From 1-5pm, you and your family can enjoy roasting hot dogs and mashmellows, tours of the park, tours of the historic Anderson house, a digital scavenger hunt, yard games, prizes and more. The address of the park is 31316 North Olinda Trail in Lindstrom. Call 651-257-9380 for more information.
If you are part of a non-profit group that could benefit from a grant, the Chisago Lakes Community Foundation would love to hear from you.
Every year they award multiple Community Fund Grants to some great local groups. To qualify for a grant you must be a viable 501(c) 3 public charity. This includes civic organizations, municipalities, schools and nonprofit groups. Your program must serve within the geographic boundaries of the Chisago Lakes School District #2144.
The deadline to apply is September 30 this year and you can apply by visiting www.clac-foundation.com and then click on CLACF2019Grant Application form to download a Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation Grant Application. You can’t get a grant if you don’t apply!
I know we are having a heat wave right now, but snow is right around the corner. Why would I mention that??? Because, every weekday we now have a crotch rocket, that is louder than any motorcycle I have ever heard, race past our house early in the morning and it feels like he is trying to break the land-speed record. I have had him behind me in the afternoon and have seen him pass people up a hill/curve and on the shoulder. At least the snow will keep us from hearing him - or sirens.
