What's better than Easter snow? Donate your masks to the Chamber

I hope everyone had a nice Easter.  The snow made it a bit odd but in a way I think it made the day better. It made me not feel so badly about just laying around the house. Not going to church was definitely weird but luckily our church had their service online.  Once again, I can not wait for this thing to be over.

The Chamber of Commerce is collecting face masks to be donated locally. They have a pattern you can use on their website and if you google home made facemask you will find tons of easy-to-make directions for creating masks.

There is a tub located next to the front door at the chamber office in Lindstrom,  that you can leave them in. Please put them in a waterproof zip-lock bag to protect them.  The Chamber will ensure they get to the proper places and thank you in advance!

I recently had to unfortunately shop in a large store in Forest Lake. I will let you guess the name, it’s a massive store with tons of customers.  As I maneuverered the aisles looking for the items we needed it was clear people were trying to avoid each other. I was impressed with the majority of people honoring each other’s space with the exception of a few idiots coughing loud as a joke so everyone around them could hear. Hilarious. Such comedic timing at such a wonderful time in our country.

I did make another observation while at the mega-store.  Apparently with the pandemic and social distancing people are not allowed to look each other in the eye? Can you get sick by looking at someone now?  I must have missed that article in the New England Journal of Medicine.  I am NOT making light of the pandemic, but averting eye contact seems unnecessary.

Thank you to the customers of Brink’s Market for generously donating to the local food shelf.  This is a tight time for all of us, and to see the community reach into their pockets to help our neighbors is beyond incredible.  I love this place.

You will see an ad on the back page labeled “Chisago Lakes Eats”.

This is a super-cool program the Chisago Lakes Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce have created to help local businesses.  Every two weeks the ad will feature two local restaurants. Each restaurant will give away gift certificates at random, to local businesses, when you call.   It’s a great way to eat local and at the same time support those local businesses other than restaurants.  This week  Phil’s Grill and The Northern are featured, give them a call!
