County officials were on-site observing the bridge placement for the Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail Tuesday this week. In photo: Parks Board member Judy Chartrand next to retired county parks director Laird Mork, left.  In back row, Chris DuBose, county commissioner; with Joe Tart, current parks director; Gregg Carlson in orange vest; with Kurt Schneider, county environmental services director and right, Joe Sausen, founder of the non-profit County Parks & Trails Foundation.  More photos on page 6.

The 2020 project brings the Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail over a ravine on the west side of Interstate Park and east of Tern Avenue.  The two metal bridge sections were fabricated in Shakopee MN trucked in and bolted together.  The gazebo for the trailhead is now assembled as well.  The trail runs almost completely from Center City to Taylors Falls.
