Shafer Township ATV crash victim dies
The teen driver in an ATV crash reported late last week in Shafer Township, Kaili Rambow, has died.

This is the second local fatality attributed to ATV operation in recent weeks.  A 59-year-old Rush City man succumbed to ATV crash injuries sustained when his ATV crashed in Nessel Township, the end of July.

Rambow was riding the ATV alone, August 13. About 10 a.m.  sheriff’s dispatch was called by someone who lived near the scene and witnessed her crash.
The cause has not been released by investigators.

Why were all the law enforcement vehicles at the middle school in Lindstrom?
The Lakes Area Chief of Police reports there was a juvenile inside a chimney at the Chisago Lakes Middle School very early August 14.
Authorities were alerted when one of the juvenile’s two friends, also up on the school rooftop, reported they couldn’t hear their friend calling after he’d slipped into the five-story chimney.

The responding officer for Lakes Area Police luckily was also a school resource officer and knew the school interior well and located an access door for chimney maintenance.
The 14-year-old juvenile was injured but responders were able to free him through the hatchway. Lakes Region EMS took him to Regions for medical attention to injury described as not life threatening, according to the Chief of Police.
