A pursuit that started in Wisconsin, crossed into Minnesota when the suspect believed to have abandoned a trailer reported stolen out of Fridley, was spotted. The trailer theft was Dec 4. and the item had been recovered in Taylors Falls.
About 2 p.m. the next day—December 5 the vehicle being sought as involved in the trailer theft was spotted on Hwy 8. Highly erratic driving as the chase began, forced law enforcement involved in the pursuit to back-off and the suspect eventually bailed on foot near Center City. He allegedly stole a farm vehicle and headed into Center City, where he soon fled on foot, heading out on South Center Lake.
Authorities located him and an arest was made and he was taken to be evaluated at the hospital. The suspect is identified as 24-year-old Bradley Daniel Kjenstad of White Bear Lake.
Also December 5 a fire started in some discarded barbeque coals outside, next to a trailer, in Elms Estates, Lindstrom. A Lakes Area officer used a fire extinguisher and also called in Lindstrom Fire Dept. to run thermal imaging to make sure no hot spots remained in the wall.
December 4 sheriff department squad car was struck by a suspected drunk driver, according to information from the county. About 10:30 p.m. Sgt. Puelston was in the middle of a traffic stop, at a location near Hwy 95 and Hemmingway, when a Ram pickup truck hit his vehicle from the rear. The sergeant has been treated for his injuries and released. The driver is identified as Jessica Ann Kepner, 28, whose first appearance in court was Monday this week.
A complaint about a campaign sign on Old Towne Road resulted in law enforcement making a visit to enforce state law— Minnesota requires candidate name signs to have all been removed weeks ago.
December 3 there was a three-vehicle crash at Shoquist and Hwy 8 in Chisago City. Police say a call came in at 3:09 p.m. The full report was not immediately available from state patrol. Preliminary details are that one car, westbound on the highway, hit two cars crossing north-south at the lighted intersection. The westbound car allegedly had a red light.
Emergency medical services evaluated the people at the scene.
Lakes Area Police Dept. School Resource Officer has been helping school officials as they do home visits to check on students who appear to be truant for distance learning activities.
** The scheduled Dec. 1 sentencing for former Chisago County Sheriff Rick Duncan has been delayed. A spokesperson for Anoka County District Court tells the Press sentencing will be taking place Dec 22.
