I hope you had a chance to actually get out and take in one of the two modified tree lighting ceremonies last weekend.  Both Chisago City and Lindstrom made their festivals quite special despite the pandemic circumstances.  It looked like the crowds were enjoying the events and the kids relly were impressed seeing Santa up close from the comforts of their warm vehicles. Thank you to both cities for making this dire time a little bit normal and for bringing holiday cheer when we all most certainly can use some.  Thanks also to Santa for making his appearance at both events along with his cast of characters.  You have no idea how much joy you bring the kids and adults as well!

Speaking of Christmas, the super popular Community Christmas Meal is still taking place this Christmas. Held at First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom, the meal will be modified much like the Thanksgiving meal was at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church a few weeks back.  That means that you will now be able to enjoy a free (free will offering) Christmas meal but will now be required to pick it up at a drive-thru. A wonderful person will load your meal contactless into your vehicle and away you go with a terrific  meal.  Yes, there is something to be said for comaraderie with friends and neighbors, but we are living in odd times that require us to adjust.  This too shall pass.  To make a reservation for your meal, please call 651-257-4306 by December 16.  It’s imperative to call for that allows them to order enough food so no one gets shorted.

The Chisago Lakes Rotary Club and the Chisago City Fire Department drove Santa around Saturday evening collecting food, gifts for Anonymous Santa and monetary donations to be shared between the food shelf and Anonymous Santa.  Who would ever walk out to the street to donate? Well, the turnout was bigger than ever with them collecting 1,400 pounds of food,   390 new toys and $926.  Wyoming residents also had an amazing turnout when Wyoming Fire Department collected as well.  I am at a loss for words here folks. Sorry doesn’t seem quite enough.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Chisago Lakes Chamber is analyzing the current broadband landscape in our area. The data obtained from the community survey and speed test will be a giant step towards universal broadband internet in Chisago Lakes.  Don’t forget to take the Speed Test. Participate by December 14, for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a Brinks Grocery or Carlson BP in Lindstrom.
