Stabbing in Sunrise
Chisago County Sheriff’s Office released preliminary details about an alleged stabbing this week.  Monday about 6 p.m. a call came into 9-1-1 that John and Darcy Hiland had sustained stab wounds and needed assistance. The deputies on the scene were told it was their adult son, who lives with them, who had stabbed them. Injuries described as “critical” required LifeLink III air ambulance to be dispatched.  Lakes Region EMS also responded with Almelund Fire Dept. and North Branch Police.  The victims were listed in stable condition by the following day. According to the sheriff the suspect, Tyler Hiland, 26, is in jail and he was apprehended without incident.  His arraignment on first degree assault was pending at press time.

The Rush City Kwik Trip reported a counterfeit $100 bill December 20 used to buy lottery tickets.  Authorities are investigating.

December 19 about 7 p.m. Chisago City firefighters were sent to an address on Railroda Avenue for natural gas leak. Turned out to be sewer odor.

December 18 theft of mail from box in Stacy off 350th.

December 17 An address on 250th in Wyoming was the scene of a burglary in progress.  Call came in about 9 a.m. Lakes Area officers assisted the K9 unit, Wyoming and the county and apprehended two suspects

December 14 there was a call of a suspected disturbance or assault happening near Shafer Mini Storage units, about 11 a.m. Deputy located the suspect and possible victim, who had moved to the parking lot near Shafer trailer court. Arrest of male suspect on a detain order was made.

Attempt to break into mainstreet Lindstrom business resulted in door being kicked in and left open, freezing pipes. Nothing missing and police are investigating.

Three handguns reported stolen from a Chisago City address.
