Carrie Ann Holmquist, age 88, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020, at her farm home in Shafer, Minnesota. She had formerly been living at Point Pleasant Heights in Chisago City, Minnesota until moving back to the farm in March 2020 and living with her son, Larry.

Carrie was born at home on May 11, 1932 in Eureka Center, Wisconsin to George Arthur and Ethel May (Weaver) Andrewson. She graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1950. Carrie then worked as a bookkeeper for HK Stahl Company and Sta-Vis Oil Company in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Carrie married Raymond Milton Holmquist on April 12, 1958 and they lived together at their dairy farm in Shafer, Minnesota. Along with farming, Carrie worked as a bookkeeper for Shafer Creamery Company, Shafer, Minnesota from 1966 until 1979. After dissolution of the creamery, she became Congregational Treasurer and Financial Secretary for Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City, Minnesota from 1980 until 1989. She then enrolled as a part time student at Cambridge Community College. Carrie began working as the Deputy Recorder at the Chisago County Recorder’s Office in 1993. She worked there until her retirement in 2003, at the age of 71.

Carrie loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She sang with the choirs at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church of Lindstrom and sang many solos at both churches and at Parmly on the Lake Chapel. She was involved in many church activities including Meals on Wheels and River Valley Christian Women. Other activities included Red Hats and several book clubs.

Carrie is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Holmquist (September 2012), her son Lonnie Holmquist (August 2017), her sister Betty Jane Andrewson (March 1931), and her brother Daniel Andrewson (October 2005).

She is survived by her son Larry Holmquist of Shafer, Minnesota, her sister May Anderson of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, and her brother Walter (Lorna) Andrewson of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and many cousins and friends.

Due to COVID-19 funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Center City, Minnesota.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
