Still finding alot of vehicles parking on city streets in violation of overnight parking rules...the police departments are issuing warnings and tickets depending on the circumstances but readers are reminded that until April, overnight street parking is prohibited in most area cities.  This is to keep routes clear for snowplowing.

A couple of crashes with no serious injuries over the past week reported, one on Forest Blvd. and Lent Trail, north of Stacy, January 30.  Stacy-Lent Fire Department aided at the scene. Crash was called in about 4 p.m.  The second was near Malmberg, and 347th, January 30. A Honda Civic went off the roadway and hit a power pole, landing in a ditch.  This was reported about 8 a.m. Passenger and driver were transported by Lakes Region EMS.

February 1 a call of a structure fire but it was a controlled burn, permitted to a party on July Avenue, south of Chisago City.  Call came in at 7 p.m.

January 30 a counterfeit $50 was passed at Casey’s in Stacy.

North Branch Police made an arrest at Holiday (north) of a male who was allegedly causing a disturbance.  Call came in about 6:30 p.m.

At the middle school in North Branch and Chisago Lakes high school there were juveniles taken into custody briefly for assault, alleged to have punched a second party in their faces.

Two female Lab mix dogs were collected by Lakes Area Police in Chisago City. One had a pink collar and the other had a green collar.

January 28 a North Branch Police squad car was hit by a suspected drunk driver. State Patrol is writing the incident.  The squad was parked at a call and the vehicle hit it about 10:15 p.m. The vehicle got locked up alongside the police car and a second officer came upon the scene. Crash happened on Hwy. 95.

North Branch Police advised of an internet scam, regarding purchase of a car in Montana.  Seller asked for eBay cards in payment and North Branch buyer sent $1,000 worth and has not seen vehicle.

Diesel fuel theft reported at a construction site in Lindstrom. Loss is 500 gallons.

There was a report of a gun on a North Branch school bus and authorities went to near Hillshire Road and County Road 14. Investigation revealed no firearm, but the alleged suspect was detained and questioned.  Lakes Area and North Branch Police were involved.

January 27 a natural gas smell reported about 9:30 a.m. at North Branch county health and human services building. North Branch Fire responded and handled the issue.
