Celebration of the Lakes was great, local athletes doing amazing things
Thank you so much to all of the groups who put on all the different events such as the chili contest, the spaghetti feed, the bags tournament, the dogsleds, the Lions fishing contest, the radar runs, the dodgeball tournament and of course the new ice carousel.
Everywhere I went the crowds were good sized and everyone was having a great time. One thing that I thought was really neat this year was events were spread out throughout the area. Yes the “ice” events were on North Center Lake, but there was events in Chisago City as well as Lindstrom and businesses in all of Chisago Lakes took part in the passport event where you would bring your passport into a local business and get them stamped.
The folks at the Rotary club did a great job with the ice carousel. A ton of people came out to enjoy a ride around the ice while enjoying a drink (or two), playing games or just sitting by one of the four fire pits.
There were 31 teams that entered the bags tournament held at the Uncommon Loon. The Loon also hosted a great chili contest which was sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church.
All in all a great weekend for a celebration! Thanks for coming out and enjoying it with us!
A while back we ran a letter to the editor telling the community about the great cross country ski trails available for the public to ski on out at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course. A caller wanted the public to know that the golf course maintains the trails with help of the city. The caller also wanted everyone to know that “Fat Tire” bikes are also allowed on the trails.
Some major congratulations are in order for some of our highschool athletes. The boys ski team finished fifth at state with Jamie Mower finishing 11th and Augie Brown finishing 11th. Finishing fifth doesn’t sound amazing but the four schools that finished ahead of Chisago Lakes were absolutely huge powerhouse schools with a ton more students that Chisago Lakes.
Congratulations to Claudia Stipe, Elsa Leopold and Paige Bauer. All of these gymnasts have earned a trip to state this weekend. Claudia finished first on beam and qualified for the all around. Elsa qualified on beam and Paige who is a North Branch gymnast qualified on the vault. Good luck girls!
