Lorraine Oldham

Lorraine A. Oldham, age 88 of Chisago City passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Parmly on the Lake Memory Care (Isabella’s House) in Chisago City.

Lorraine was born on June 10, 1931 in Utica Township, Winona County, Minnesota. She grew up in St. Charles and was very active and involved in school activities. She was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1949. She met Robert Oldham in 1948 when they began dating. They were married in St. Charles on September 4, 1949. Lorraine and Robert moved to the Lindstrom area in 1953 and later settled three miles west of Chisago City in 1963.

During this time they raised five children, Nancy, Lee, Larry, Merry and Sheryl. Lorraine worked in the home and enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking care of her family. After the children moved away from home she took a business course at Rasmussen Business School. Upon graduation she began at the Forest Lake School District working as a secretary at the bus garage. She worked there for 15 years and retired in 1993.

She and Bob bought a motorhome after retirement and did traveling and camping trips which they both enjoyed. In February 2015 they moved to Parmly Assisted Living where Bob passed away on February 2, 2017. Lorraine moved to the memory care unit first to Margaret’s House and two years later to Isabella’s House where she passed away due to dementia.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, Robert and daughter, Nancy. She is survived by her children, Lee Oldham of St. Paul, Larry (Vickie) Oldham of Cottage Grove, OR, Merry (Dale) Gunderson of St. Croix Falls, WI and Sheryl (James) Trumble of St. Paul; her seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services at 11 am on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with Rev. Dale Bergh and Rev. Jeffrey Vogelzang officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment at Kahbakong Cemetery in Taylors Falls. Arrangements were by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. www.grandstrandfh.com
