Chisago Lakes 48, North Branch 32
The Wildcats and Vikings got together for their annual dual meet last Thursday at North Branch High School, with the Wildcats prevailing 48-32.  The Vikings fielded just eight wrestlers and won six of the eight contested weights and had a 32-12 advantage in those matchups.  But the Wildcats fielded a full lineup for one of the first times this year and picked up 36 points from six forfeits in the non-contested weights.

In the contested weights, Viking Gabe Krech (120) pinned Wildcat Franklin Stark at 1:22 of the first period.  Viking Josh Logan (132) major decisioned Wildcat Andrew Novack 15-2.  Landen Bender (138) picked up one of the two Wildcat non-forfeit wins by pinning Viking Michael Thao at 1:17 of the first period.  Viking Brandt Bombard (145) pinned Wildcat Logan Bender with three seconds left in the first period.  Viking Ashton LaBelle followed with a 19-5 major decision over Wildcat Nolan Huffman.  Viking Austin Sonnek (160) had the quickest pin of the day, needing just 50 seconds to take care of Wildcat Charlie Schumacher.  Wildcat Austin Siefert (182) gave the Wildcat fans in attendance something to cheer about when he pinned Viking Sam Sonnek at 5:11.  And Vikings Caleb Norwig (220) won the last contested match of the dual, pinning Wildcat Ben Klun 19 seconds into the second period.
